I am always stunned by how otherwise intelligent people go nuts when it comes to the SAT. Their idea of fairness is to make everything equal, to eliminate most forms of competition, all in order not to 'judge' one student over another. While it is true that wealthier students have the advantage of prep exams and other aids, there are those who simply prepare on their own and do very well.My sons are a textbook case. They had NO outside help, only workbooks from Barnes & Noble. They aced the exams, not because they had any help, but because they were on the top of their game. Why should that be considered unfair, and not rewarded by a top spot in an elite university Life is full of disappointments. If some students do better than others then that is the stuff of life. Deal with it.
