Israeli Ruling on Cremation Angers Orthodox Jews

Submitted by Lena Brooks, Jan 7, 2007 10:58

In the Funeral Consumers Alliance organization, which I am a member, we work toward finding less

expensive alternatives to the expensive funerals that put low-income families in debt for the rest of

their lives. It is sad that we honor the dead at our peril. With the Israel issue, it is sad to think that

past memories of the ovens that Jewish people were burned in would make them fear creamation.

Our organization suggests that rather than taking up ground space and using chemicals from the

embalming, people can have Memorial Services with pictures and momentos of the decesased or burial

in the ground through the new Green Burials. www.greenburials.org
