College Presidents Want Lower Drinking Age

Submitted by Anthony, Sep 28, 2008 20:19

I am currently a college student in NYC. What many people don't realize is that students are doing FAR more damage to their bodies with the drinking age at 21 than they would be if the drinking age was 18. Any logical person can tell you that consuming 10-12 shots of hard liquor in an hour or twos time is much worse for you than consuming several drinks over the course of a night. Because students cant drink until they are 21, BUT ARE DRINKING ANYWAY, they are forced to drink enough so they feel the effects of the alcohol for an entire night instead of just having a few while they're out for a nice buzz. It is CRAZY that anyone would say there is a different level of maturity to go into the military AND POSSIBLY DIE as having a beer. To the MADD people all I have to say is that I don't feel your organization is a worth while one at all. People know they shouldn't drive drunk and they do anyway so what exactly is your organization accomplishing?? Parents pick up children drunk, drink at family occasions, when they go out to dinner, at bars etc. and people wonder why children think it's ok to drink nevermind drink and drive? Common sense people.
