Silver Racks Up Air Miles At Taxpayers' Expense

PPLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!!! How can we support this? I can fully understand if it was a trip he was required to fly,...NY to Albany is a commute, but still, I believe it is a commute he was aware of would be required of his job upon accepting it! And still, flying all the way to Washington??? With no reason to be there? Costing us 4x more than an Amtrack would? Clearly, he is attempting to rack up air miles for personal use. Furthermore, What is your time worth? Taking an extra hour on a plane, as opposed to a train or driving a car we, taxpayers, are probably paying for anyhow is celarly more time consuming! Lets give him the benefit of the doubt....maybe he is doing work while in flight, but can he not achieve the same on a train and still save an hour???? The extra hour using flight this article speaks of, I would bet my personal belongings on, does not include him checking in luggage, going through security.....any possible delays which most airports, including Laguardia are notorious for.... so what's this guys time worth? I'll tell you what....if this was YOUR employee if you owned a business and you paid him out of your pocket, you may think differently. Perhaps then, you would see the wrong in his conduct. But really, how different is that scenario from the factual situation we are discussing? He works for us, our tax money supports his job. And we are going to allow him to blow the dollars and waste hours at a time? I could understand it and have NO problem with this accumulating air miles thing if 1) He was taking flights that made sense....if he had to travel to Washington, for instance, then fly to Washington! No problem! Take the miles as a perk! We are making you go there. Enjoy the bonus. and/or 2) Flying was quicker and made more sense. Time is money after all. But the fact of the matter is, he is electing to waste time and money for personal benefit. And some of you are ok with that? Do you believe the financial economic crisis is the problem of the house and senate, too becasue a bill didn't pass? Are you really that narrow of a thinker? Come on guys, open you eyes! He's taking advantage of us. And he wil lcontinue to do so until we do something about it.
