Bikers Ride To Remember Those Killed by Motorists

Submitted by City Cyclist, Jan 8, 2007 09:48

What a strange article. And fictitious even. Bicyclists, family and friends from all over the 5 boroughs gathered to honor those killed by cars in 2006. Prominent cycling and advocacy groups worked to coordinate the event: Time's Up!, Transportation Alternatives, NYC Bike Messengers Association, The NYC Bicycle Coalition, The 5 Borough Bicycle Club, Recycle-A-Bicycle, Visual Resistance and more. Family Members and Friends of victims spoke movingly about their loved one and safer streets. And this reporter makes up a story. I work with Barbara Ross and she never said those words. And we never discussed any subject but the memorial and the families and safer streets. Not sure why the NY Sun would make up their own story subject when the real story was on the streets and in the hearts of family, friends and supporters of safer streets. Riding together in groups is safer and makes cyclists more visible.
