and I even agree with your basic premise that Kerry has been at the political game far too long to intentionally label U.S. troops as "stupid". I think his innate arrogance simply got the best of him when he made his comment, which was clearly about the troops and not about Bush. Only the most tortured reconstruction of what Kerry "really meant to say" could interpret his remarks as having been about anybody but the troops. One would have to assume that Kerry is an even bigger fool than he is to envision a scenario where he was referring to the President, who attended the same university as Kerry and made slightly better grades, as lacking in education. John Kerry is a pompous, supercilious ass, and always has been. Notwithstanding his constant bragging about his presence in Vietnam, Kerry's disdain for the military has been evident in his public statements since at least 1971. While I give him props for having had the stones to go to Vietnam, how can one not question the motivation of a soldier who had himself filmed while there, threw (someone's) medals over the White House fence when he got back, and gave testimony before Congress that showed the ultimate disrespect for his former brothers-in-arms? How many other Vietnam vets are you aware of that received 3 purple hearts in a 4 month tour without having ever been injured? Kerry is a typical liberal whose disdain for the military is surpassed only by his disdain for telling the truth. He's not worthy of your defense of him.
