Make Bush's Day

Instead, the Congress seems determined to prove the United States untrustworthy--to her friends such as Australia which I call home. Your final paragraph expresses an unfounded hope in the rationality of the Congress. It is precisely what the Congress seems most likely to do, not only prove the nation unworthy of trust but also to laud the fact. At present one can only hope that the President's recently-announced appointments can, unlike far too many to date, rise to their responsibilities and contradict in the field the errors of the willful legislature.
