This is nothing short of eerie. If someone had asked me two weeks ago whether the peace treaty with Egypt, such as it is, was worth giving up the strategic depth of S'nai and the passes (Gidi and Mitla) and having the US underwrite the Egyptian military to the tune of 2 billion dollars a year, I would have said 'yes'. Now I know how foolish this answer would have been. I'm glad no one asked me - it would only have exposed how stupid I am.
