Alexander Hamilton To Be Celebrated on His 250th Birthday

As a full reading of Hamilton's work, and his intellectual descendants, will show, the first Treasury Secretary was the direct antagonist of Adam Smith and the idea that economies are defined by money and its manipulation, and the founder of an American System in which the national government, including a National Bank, would promote the development of the nation through infrastructure, protection, and industrialization. He didn't found Wall St -- he founded a national system of economy which promoted physical economic development. He despised speculators, on principle. Read his Report on Manufactures -- and you will understand the policies we have to go back to today.
