Actually, a big part of what shrank the deficit this year was using $186 billion in Social Security tax revenues to pay for current spending items like the Iraq war, tax cuts, etc. If you recognize this $186 billion for what it is-- a shell game-- and add it back, the real, overall deficit for this fiscal year is $434 billion. "Mission accomplished!"
