Both of the cathedrals mentioned are beautiful in the eyes of true believers. To have a soul so dead as to be able to call those holy places "ugly and freakish" - as Mr. Schuyler did - is to be more pitiable than one blind.
I wish Mr. Schuyler could "see" (and I mean, truly see) our own Moorish Orthodox Cathedral, that of Saints Sergius & Bakkhus, in Ong's Hat, Pemberton, New Jersey: were his eyes truly open, he would not know whether he was in heaven or upon earth.
