When Governor Perry allowed as how illegal immigrants should be allowed to attend state schools in Texas, I felt his reasons were both sensible and humane, but he almost had his head handed to him. When the animus against illegals is so strong, there is nothing to do but ride it out. I think the Sun's case is a good one, but a candidate will not have the opportunity to make it unless he/she first gets elected.
