Learning With Goethe

You want to meet Goethe? Then read his 'Italian Journey.' You will meet him with his feet on the ground and his heart in Italy. Unquestionably the best Viaggio in Italia that was ever penned. He made his trip to Italy just at the end of Italy's regional quirkiness, when principalities were still prolific. Court dwarfs entertained him in Sicily and noble poets & painters in Florence. It's a latter day soup to nuts of Italy at it's best.
