Dear Dr. Whittingham,

This is all a bit before my time, but the Watteau sheet is fantastic. All Contemporary artists should be force-marched through this exhibition while flagelating themselves.

Please tell me, is this new Watteau venture in Valenciennes another 'Comittee Chagalle?' Another one of those French government instituted final words on yes this is a Watteau or no, better luck next time, Charlie? Regardless, the Morgan show is excellent. Great to know such extraordinary material is still in private hands (not to mention private hands willing to lend.) Sir Joshua
