Kerry's Blunder, Wall Street's Gain

Submitted by Charlie, Nov 4, 2006 17:36

Do I have to give back my MBA now? It is understood that the GOP is pro-business, but I have always known that Wall Street prefers different parties controlling the White House and Congress. It is more difficult to pass spending bills and it is the high spending and increasing debt/deficit that makes Wall Street shudder.

In today's case, you can point to the fact that spending has been haywire under this congress and note that the only veto the President excercised was on Stem Cell research. You can also note that we may have been in a similar situation had this been a Democratic president with a Democratic congress... so this isn't a political blame game.

When we created our record surplus, it was under gridlock circumstances... there was a Democrat in the Whitehouse and Republicans were controlling congress. If you are sincerely rooting for the economy and not trying to wave a partisan flag for personal reasons, you should be cheering for gridlock... and this time around voting Democratic.

PS- Minimum wage legislation from Democrats and Illegal Alien crackdown legislation from Republicans probably will have an equal impact on the business environment, so this is a wash.
