Robert Moses's Vision of New York

Francis -- I hope the residents of Brooklyn will appreciate the park legacy of the Shore Parkway that you so beautifully describe, when they are presented this month with a plan by DOT to make major alterations to the parkway's historic park infrastructure. The plan has been kept highly secret, but we should be alert to the possibility of it being a backdoor way of opening up the parkway to trucks. Thank you for helping the public know what they once had -- and could again, if they are vigilant about the projects that violate the beauty and function of its original and brilliant design.
