State of the Union

As both a parent and and public school teacher, I am of two minds on the idea of allowing people to transfer from failing public schools.

As a parent, I most certainly transfer my child from a failing school, since I want the best education for my child.

As a teacher, I know that America's goal is to educate every student. This is not a country like China. We do not expell underperforming students. Schools are not a business. Businesses can reject products that are not up to standards. Nor do resources refuse to be built into products in business. Every educator that I have met (Even those who are burnt out) has a deepfelt desire to help every student succeed. I believe that the emphasis must be on turning failing shools into succeeding schools.
