As a co-owner of a small flatwork concrete company I would like to know what the plan is to help small businesses? Right now I employ 3 people besides my husband and I. My Liability insurance just went up to approx $4500 year, this does not includes workers comp, or nys disability . The insurances and taxes that we have to pay to operate a business are astronomical. You want to know why business go bankrupt, leave NY or just plainly will not relocate to NY ,this is the main reason. It is not profitable to run a business in NYS. We need legistature to set better insurance standards with lower premiums, we need to have a better system in place to be able to collect our monies from General Contractors whom do not pay us after we have provided our services. I am very frustrated, as are many business owners, that NYS does not regulate businesses more closely. For example, Why is it that you can close your doors and file bankruptcy one day and the next you can open the same type of business under a new name? My business personally took a $21000 hit in 2005 for GC's not paying and now i am being faced with another business whom owes me $7000 and is avoiding me. What can you do for me and other businesses? What can I do to help make it better for business in NYS?
