I saw this composition when it was performed in Minneapolis 2-3 years ago. The soprano was absolutely splendid. The force she put behind some of Dylans lines made them even more powerful than the original. If you have ever heard an art song, a classical genre, you will have some idea of how Mr. Tambourine man sounds when done by a highly trained soprano capable of not only controlled changes in volume and very high notes but rapid note changes from high to low or the reverse. My 2 companions at the concert, both long-time Dylan fans, were turned off by the classical composition.
