Chancellor To Create Office of Parent Support

Submitted by Martin H. Levinson, Jan 27, 2007 12:39

After thirty-five years of service, I retired three years ago from the NYC Department of Education. The system was in desperate need of an overhaul when I left but Klein has made a mess out of the opportunity (e.g., he selected ineffective curricula, he left billingual ed in place, and he even managed to screw up the business side of the department--it takes longer for vendors to get paid these days then when I was in service). The Chancellor didn't ask for input from those working at the Board of Ed when he took over, it costs nothing to ask for ideas, he simply blew the place up. Sadly, it's the children who will ultimately suffer from his arrogance and incompetence.
