Another Middle East War Is on the Horizon
in response to reader comment: USA and Israel; pursue peace or self destruction.

Present day Israel and Jordan were ceded by the Saudi royal house in 1921 from their part of the old Ottoman Empire, to permit the creation of the land of Israel.

The Arab states created at the end of WW1 from the remnants of the Ottoman Empire were anti-Jewish Nazi sympathizers during WW2, typified by the visits of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem to Berlin during Hitler's governance.

The state of Jordan, created by the UN in 1947, is the modern Palestinian state.

When Israel was created in 1948, the regional Arab states ejected their resident Jews, without property or identifying papers, creating a modern diaspora of ~ 0.5 million Jews, most of whom found home in Israel.

Prior to their eviction, these Jews had suffered with local Christians and other non-muslims the burden of the Sharia law current in most Arab states. That law precludes the trial of a Muslim for the murder of a non-Muslim, precludes non-Muslims from bearing witness against a Muslim, and provides for discriminatory taxation of non-Muslims. At least it permits life to non-Muslims, but certainly not any measure of equality. The Sharia law is at root intolerant, and violates the precepts of modern civilization.

Of the ~ 0.5 million Palestinian refugees, few were accepted by Arab governments. The Palestinians left voluntarily, against Israeli advice, and can now only envy the many Arabs who remained in Israel to ultimately participate in the fruits of freedom and democracy.

In the late 60's, Yassir Arafat and the PLO were evicted from Jordan by King Hussein, who could no longer tolerate their activities against Israel. The Plaestinian were removed from the Palestinian state because they failed to behave.

We now have a global jihad, fueled by ancient fear and hatred, doomed by a failure to grasp modern technology and more importantly, a failure to grasp the power inherent in modern societies.
