New York Silences Southern Belle

Submitted by Richard Keller, Jan 26, 2007 13:15

I find it sad that those that speak of diversity of thought and lifestyle are anything but tolerant. I am sad, but not surprised. It's not just in New York, it's many places. There is a general lack of consideration and tolerance for those who think and act differently that you do. We all can't be right all the time, but it is refreshing to be able to express one's thoughts and ideas and instead of weeping or yelling as the response, receive respect and thoughtful consideration towards what has been said. What is happening in many of our schools today is brainwashing at the highest level. The "I, Me, My / why is everybody so mean to me" generation is so self-absorbed that they refuse to take the time to challenge any thought they do not understand or agree with. The louder some folks shout their thoughts and beliefs has created a scenerio where it is perceived that they must be right. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Folks need to wake up or our society will eventually crumble under the weight of secular humanism. We are on the way there already. To paraphrase a great quote: "The way for evil to triumph is for good men (and women) to do nothing."
