Americans acknowledge their imperfections yet are committed to achieving that illusive balance: freedom with responsibility, individualism with compassion, pragmatism with hope, humility with confidence, .... We admit that our people are not perfect. But we are committed to building a better country and culture for all Americans. That alone makes our culture better--in comparison and in absolute.
