LONDON — British police arrested four people in connection with the suicide bombings in London on July 7, 2005, which killed 52 people on the city's transport system.

Two men, aged 34 and 29, and a 30-year-old woman were held at 7 a.m. yesterday in West Yorkshire, London's Metropolitan Police said in an e-mailed statement. A 22-year-old man was arrested in the Selly Oak area of the city of Birmingham, West Midlands Police said in a separate statement. The suspects weren't identified.

They were all arrested on suspicion of the "commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism" under the provisions of the Terrorism Act 2000 and will be interviewed at a high-security police station. Officers are searching five houses in West Yorkshire and two flats in Birmingham.
