Ay Caramba! 'The Simpsons' Extend Record Run

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | March 21, 2006

The Fox Network has commissioned two more seasons of "The Simpsons" cartoon series, the longest running prime time entertainment series on American television, the BBC reported.

The Simpsons' creator, Matt Groening, said last year he would keep making the show as long as the audience found it entertaining. "I don't see any end in sight," he said. "I want to get to 366 [shows] so we have one for every day of the year, including leap year."

The new contract will ensure the series passes its 400th episode. "That's what you're looking for in television - surprise," said Mr Groening. The BBC cited a recent poll suggesting Americans knew more about "The Simpsons" than the First Amendment of the Constitution.
