By Special to the Sun | November 3, 2006

Actress Adrienne Shelly has been found dead inside her Manhattan office, police and her agent said yesterday.

The 40-year-old actress' husband discovered her unconscious on Wednesday, around 6 p.m., inside her Abingdon Square apartment, authorities reported. Shelly, born Adrienne Levine, was best known for her roles in the Hal Hartley films "Trust" and "The Unbelievable Truth."

After a career that included film, theater, and television, she most recently wrote and directed a film called "Waitress," starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion.

As of yesterday, the Medical Examiner's office had not determined a cause of death.

"She was incredibly creative and a tremendously prolific writer," her agent of about a decade, Rachel Sheedy, told the Associated Press.
