Ad Campaign Aims To Educate on Abuse

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | April 5, 2007

More than 2,500 educational advertisements to raise awareness about abusive relationships are going up on New York City subways, buses, billboards, phone kiosks and in local newspapers as part of a new citywide campaign bankrolled, in part, by the City Council.

The campaign is aimed at those 16–24 years old and is being led by Safe Horizon, a New York-based organization to assist victims of violence.

The council provided $400,000 for the $1.7 million campaign, which will extend through the end of May. The advertisements list a phone number abuse victims can dial for help.
