Bloomberg Wades Into Presidential Arena

Mayor Bloomberg waded into the 2008 presidential contest yesterday, but only to say the country needs more than "superficial half steps that are driven by politics." The statement continued his denial that he is running for the White House, while curiously offering up analysis on national policy. While it did not cite any of the presidential candidates by name, it suggested that the current crop of 2008 contenders is not giving the American enough.
"We need solutions that are innovative and bold, not superficial half-steps that are driven by politics, partisanship, or special interest campaign contributions," Mr. Bloomberg, who as a billionaire has billed himself as beholden to no special interests, wrote on his personal Web site.
