Brooklyn Man Found Tied Up, Dead at Home
The sister of a middle-age man found him tied up and dead in their Brooklyn home yesterday morning, police said.
Police said the man, 49, may have died after being hit on the head by a blunt weapon.
They said it did not appear the suspect had forced entry into the apartment, but were investigating whether there had been a robbery and possibly an assault in another apartment in the same building, police sources said.
The man, identified by police as Glenroy Smith, lived in a first floor apartment at 592 Thomas Boyland St. in East New York. Police said his sister, who also lived there, had arrived home at around 8:50 yesterday morning to find her brother's body bound and bruised.
She called 911, and Smith was declared dead at the scene after emergency workers arrived.
Police said the incident was being investigated and had not identified a suspect as of yesterday evening. They said the medical examiner would determine the cause of death.
Family members reached by phone at his home said they were too distraught to discuss the incident.
