ALBANY — When former majority leader of the Senate, Joseph Bruno, retires this week from the seat he's held since 1976, he could land a job with a friend whose business grew fast in recent years with the help of millions of dollars in state contracts.
Two Republicans close to Mr. Bruno say he is considering taking an executive job with CMA Consulting Services among some other opportunities. The Republicans spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak for Mr. Bruno.
Spokesmen for Mr. Bruno and the company wouldn't comment on whether the 79-year-old senator is discussing a job there.
CMA Consulting, based in the Albany County suburb of Colonie, is headed by the widow of former Republican Senator Ronald Stafford, Kay McCabe Stafford.
