City to Pay $2M to Antiwar Activists

By Associated Press | August 20, 2008

Civil rights lawyers say the city has agreed to pay $2 million to settle a lawsuit claiming antiwar activists were unjustly arrested in 2003.

The lawyers said yesterday that the settlement was reached after 52 antiwar activists were arrested in April 2003 outside the Manhattan offices of a military contractor.

The city did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
