The New York City Conflicts of Interest Board has fined City Council Member James Gennaro of Queens $2,000 because he asked an aide to volunteer for his 2003 re-election campaign and used his office computer, printer, and paper for his reelection campaign, the board said yesterday.
Mr. Gennaro, considered a likely candidate for the state Senate, told the board that although he has "no specific recollection of it now," he does not dispute that in 2003 he asked a staff member on one occasion to volunteer for his campaign, according to a board report released yesterday.
He said he did not know that his office equipment was used to compose and print a campaign letter, but told the board he should have known about it, the report said.
