Decomposing Body Found in McCarren Park

By BENJAMIN SARLIN, Special to the Sun | July 18, 2008

Police are investigating a decomposing body discovered in Brooklyn's McCarren Park yesterday.

The remains were discovered in a shed nearby the McCarren Park Pool, police said. The city's medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death. As of yet, police have not identified the deceased and it is unclear how long the body was left in the shed.

McCarren Park Pool, located on Lorimer Street between Bayard Street and Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg, is a popular site for outdoor music and theater concerts, featuring such acts this summer such as MIA, the Hold Steady, and Sonic Youth. The giant pool, which was built in 1936, has been drained since 1984.
