By Staff Reporter of the Sun | February 12, 2008

Two doctors were sentenced to extensive prison terms yesterday for stealing millions of dollars from insurance companies, officials said.

Victor Basbus and Gerardo Yanayaco created fraudulent medical reports, patient evaluations, treatment notes, and other official documents, which they submitted to insurance carriers in order to collect reimbursements, the Manhattan district attorney, Robert Morgenthau, said in a statement.

Basbus and Yanayaco carried out the directives of Abraham and Isabella Pustilnik, who have both already pleaded guilty to a number of felonies related to the scam, based out of Premier Medical Care, PC in Greenwich Village.

Basbus was sentenced to two six-year terms in prison, while Yanayaco was sentenced to 10 months in jail.
