Former Lawyer Pleads Guilty To Fraud

A former attorney pleaded guilty to fraud and grand larceny charges for his role in a bribery scheme meant to obtain confidential patient records of car accident victims from corrupt city hospital employees, the Manhattan district attorney, Robert Morganthau, announced yesterday. Richard Boter, 32, was disbarred in September and charged for his role in defrauding clients out of nearly $150,000 in settlements. He faces up to seven years in prison and must pay at least $160,000 in restitution.
