Infant Found Dead in Closet

Police are investigating the death of 1-week-old baby who was brought to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens yesterday, police said. The baby's mother, a 15-year-old girl, gave birth about a week ago, police said.
The grandmother of the baby discovered the body when a stench began to emanate yesterday from the mother's bedroom closet, sources said.
The mother had stashed the baby in a garbage bag inside the closet about a week ago, sources said.
Authorities are awaiting results from the medical examiner to determine if foul play was involved.
