Lawyers Hire Outside Firm To Probe Fire
City lawyers have hired an outside law firm to represent the city in an ongoing probe by the Manhattan district attorney's office into a fatal fire in the former Deutsche Bank building last month. The district attorney has launched a sweeping criminal investigation into the private contractors and government agencies that were required to inspect safety at the building. The city's Office of Corporation Counsel said the "more knowledgeable" attorneys of the private firm, Kramer Levin Naftalis and Frankel, would help the city handle subpoenas asking for "voluminous documents."
