Long Island Lawyers Charged in $900K Theft

Two attorneys are being charged with grand larceny in Nassau County on separate thefts totaling $911,000.

From December 2005 to October 2006, Barry Chasky, 54, allegedly embezzled $880,000 through a series of 17 checks from First American Title Insurance Company, which is regulated by New York State.

Mr. Chasky was charged with grand larceny in the second degree at an arraignment yesterday, and may face up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.

In a separate arraignment yesterday, Joseph Corrado, 48, was charged for pocketing $31,000 from a Garden City homeowner, who hired Mr. Corrado to negotiate a loan refinancing. He was arraigned for grand larceny in the third degree.
