Man Who Accused Police of Racism Is Arrested

A Harlem man who said he witnessed a display of police racial insensitivity last week was arrested Saturday, according to police reports.

Police arrested Clarence Jones, 28, on counts of opposition to government authority and disorderly conduct Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to reports, police attempted to issue Mr. Jones a court summons for his Lincoln Navigator, which was parked illegally on 116th Street and Madison Avenue. Mr. Jones reportedly appeared on the scene, said the car was his, got inside, and drove away. Police followed him to 116th and Fifth Avenue, where they stopped the car.

Mr. Jones got out, becoming loud and boisterous, authorities said, and started taking photographs of the officers.

Police then arrested Mr. Jones and his mother, who had also become involved in the altercation.

Last Wednesday, Mr. Jones received publicity when he said he saw an unmarked police car with a black doll's head attached to the antenna, and attempted to take a picture of it with his cell phone camera.
