MTA Looks To Appease Queens Straphangers

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is looking at ways to help Queens residents who say that weekend shutdowns on the no. 7 line have disrupted their lives and livelihoods.

The agency is studying the option of waiving some fares on the Long Island Rail Road for no. 7 riders who need to get to Manhattan from Queens on the weekends.

Riders would be allowed to board the railroad at the Woodside station. "It is an option still on the table, but just one of many," an MTA spokesman, Jeremy Soffin, said.

MTA's Chief Executive Officer, Elliot Sander, also said yesterday that the MTA is considering running no. 7 trains this St. Patrick's Day.
