PATH Train Derails, Causes Service Shutdown

By Special to the Sun | March 26, 2007

A PATH train derailed yesterday causing service to shutdown between Hoboken, New Jersey, and Penn Station, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Pasquale DuFulco, said. While the Port Authority was working to unclog the track, it wasn't clear if there would be any delays today. The PATH train, carrying about 300 passengers, came to a halt shortly after leaving the Hoboken station when one of the cars located in the center of the train detached from the rail, Mr. DiFulco, said. The passengers were evacuated to another train, and taken back to Hoboken, Mr. DiFulco said. No passengers were injured in the accident, Mr. Difulco said.
