Police Believe Serial Rapist Is Behind Park Attack

By Special to the Sun | June 29, 2007

Investigators are intensifying the search for a serial rapist after linking the suspect to a second assault in Prospect Park, police officials said.

Police believe the rape, which happened in April, is the fourth attack by the man since 2003. In each case, women were targeted in city parks just after they parted with male companions, police said.

Before raping the victim in April, the suspect tried to coerce her to have sex with him by threatening to publicize indecent photos he had taken of her and a male companion, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

The rapist is also being sought in two rapes that took place at parks in Queens, police said.
