Rangel Released From Hospital Six Days After Being Admitted

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | March 11, 2008

WASHINGTON — The dean of New York's congressional delegation, Rep. Charles Rangel of Harlem, left a Manhattan hospital yesterday, six days after being admitted for "extreme symptoms of the flu," his office said.

In a statement, his office said Mr. Rangel would "begin working at a slower pace which would allow him to get the additional rest prescribed for his full recovery." He will travel to Washington only for critical votes for the time being, and a spokesman said it was not known when he would resume a normal schedule.

Mr. Rangel, 77, is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The spokesman, Emile Milne, said his recovery would have no impact on the committee.
