Spitzer's Wife Won't Attend Party Where She'll Be Honored

By E.B. SOLOMONT, Staff Reporter of the Sun | March 11, 2008

Governor Spitzer's wife, Silda Wall Spitzer, has canceled her public appearances today, including a fund-raising party to benefit the Association for a Better New York, at which she is to be honored.

The fund-raising cocktail party, scheduled to take place at the Blue Fin restaurant in Times Square, is honoring Mrs. Spitzer and four other New Yorkers for their civic contributions. Mrs. Spitzer is being recognized for her work as the founder and chairwoman of Children for Children, a group that promotes volunteerism and community involvement among young people.

She will be presented with the award at a later date.

An estimated 300 people are expected to attend the fund-raiser. Organizers said the party was expected to raise $300,000 for ABNY, which promotes programs to make New York a better place to "live, work, and visit." "We're still going on," ABNY's executive director, Michelle Adams, said yesterday. "It's going to be great." Other honorees include Mayor Koch; a vice president and general manager of Fox 5/My 9, Lew Leone; the president of the Greater New York Hospital Association, Kenneth Raske, and Deputy Mayor Edward Skyler.
