State Asked To Postpone its Probe of Spitzer

ALBANY — Federal prosecutors are asking New York authorities to hold off investigating the call-girl scandal that led to Governor Spitzer's resignation while a federal probe continues.
A spokesman for the state Inspector General's office says they've been in contact with the U.S. attorney's office, which asked them not to do anything because federal investigators are looking into all aspects of the case.
One question is what was known by the trooper detail that was responsible for Mr. Spitzer's security round the clock. State Police have declined to comment. Federal prosecutors have charged four people with operating a prostitution ring that received money from Mr. Spitzer's bank account.
