Transit Police Fire Shots At Driver of Stolen Range Rover
Transit police fired shots yesterday at the fleeing driver of a Range Rover, who officials say stole the sports utility vehicle from a car-wash in Queens.
The shooting occurred on the Whitestone Bridge after the suspect stole the orange vehicle and fled north for the Bronx, transit police said. While approaching the toll plaza, transit police tried to stop the vehicle. The SUV jumped a concrete divider and transit police fired several shots, they said.
The suspect survived the gunfire and abandoned the vehicle in an industrial section of the Bronx. The suspect fled on foot. As of last night the suspect was not apprehended.
