By Staff Reporter of the Sun | April 4, 2008

Police confiscated millions of dollars in counterfeit goods yesterday after executing a search warrant at a warehouse in Queens, police officials said.

Police entered the warehouse in the Elmhurst section of Queens at about 11:25 a.m. and found 50,000 pairs of fake Nike sneakers and between 30,000 and 40,000 counterfeit designer handbags among other imitations. The goods represented a retail value of about $16 million, police said.

Industry experts described the seizure as one of the largest ever of counterfeit goods, police said. Eight tractor-trailers were being used last night to remove the merchandise, police said.
