Obama To Visit City for Day of Fund Raising

The campaign staff, volunteers, and press may be preparing for a blitzkrieg on Pennsylvania, but when candidates are hunting dollars, they still seem to find their way back to New York City.

Senator Obama will be visiting Manhattan on March 27 for a one-day whirlwind tour designed to raise money for the pivotal Pennsylvania primary on April 22, as well as for subsequent contests, according to an Obama campaign spokeswoman, Jen Psaki.

Mr. Obama will attend a luncheon at the Credit Suisse building, which charges $1,000 a guest; two receptions at separate Park Avenue apartments, at $2,300 a guest, and a dessert reception that will be hosted by author and gay rights activist Kevin Jennings at his Flatiron apartment, for $2,300 a guest.

The luncheon will be capped at 300 people, and the receptions will accommodate between 100 and 150 people, according to an email from Obama fund-raiser Arthur Leopold.

That means that Mr. Obama should be able to net at least a million dollars that Thursday, assuming the events sell out.
