'Save Yankee Stadium? Babe's Granddaughter Says "Yes"'
Regarding Andrew Wolf's recent article, "Save Yankee Stadium? Babe's Granddaughter Says 'Yes,'" I was beginning to think I was the only person out there that could not believe that we are about to tear down the greatest palace in the history of sport since the Roman Coliseum [Opinion, "Save Yankee Stadium? Babe's Granddaughter Says 'Yes,'" August 22, 2008].
Why is not more being said done to prevent this? Where is the supposed Landmarks Preservation Commission on this?
If Yankee Stadium is not a true national landmark, I don't know what in New York is.
The history that happened there, not just in baseball, is beyond question. Is it because saving it would be a difficult decision?
Then what is a landmark and what is worth saving?
