This 25-foot-wide, Upper East Side mansion, about 13,000 square feet, has a sun room in the master suite, which occupies the fourth level. The solarium, measuring about 110 square feet, includes entrances from both the large master bath and nearby dressing area (one of two) — and leads to a roof terrace. Built in 1882, the limestone-clad townhouse with a Beaux Arts facade has five floors plus a basement. It contains many original details, such as fretwork and leaded glass windows in the front parlor and stained glass windows in the dining room (these rooms, plus the "petit salon," also have 14-foot ceilings). There are also hand-laid herringbone floors, mahogany paneled walls, ornate plaster moldings of many varieties, a mahogany staircase, and 10 wood-burning fireplaces, many with original marble and stone mantels. The ground floor entrance, including the exterior stairway, is being restored to its original condition, with new iron and stone work, and there is a new elevator. The updated baths are finished in marble and the renovated kitchen features custom wood cabinetry and stone floors, with a butler's pantry upstairs on the parlor level.
